Jesuit High School Portland Names Tom Arndorfer Next President

March 16, 2016 — Jesuit High School in Portland, Oregon, has selected Thomas D. Arndorfer as its twelfth president. He will assume duties on July 1. The school's current president, John Gladstone, will retire after 11 years at Jesuit High School and a total of 49 years in Jesuit education.

"It is a tremendous honor and privilege to have the opportunity to serve as president of Jesuit High School, a community that has meant so much to my entire family and me. I am very grateful to be able to partner with the school's faculty, staff, administration, board of trustees, families, alumni and friends to fulfill Jesuit's mission in the years ahead," Arndorfer said.

Over the last seven years, Arndorfer has held several roles in the governance of Jesuit High, including serving as chair and vice-chair of the board of trustees, as well as chair of the finance, nominating and executive committees.

Arndorfer attended high school at Jesuit High School in Sacramento, California. After graduating from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in accounting, he worked as a certified public accountant for KPMG Peat Marwick in Chicago. He earned his MBA from Harvard Business School. After two years as an investment banker at Merrill Lynch, Arndorfer moved to Oregon to begin a 20-year career at Nike, Inc., where he served in senior leadership roles in finance, strategic planning and general management.

In the community, Arndorfer has served the Catholic Church through roles on the University of Portland's board of regents and the Catholic Relief Services' board of directors. He and his family are active members of Our Lady of the Lake Parish in Lake Oswego, Oregon.

"Among his many talents, he has deep roots in Jesuit education and is committed to Jesuit's Ignatian mission; he is an engaging leader who cares deeply about others, including the broader community,” said Brian Maag, Jesuit High School board of trustees chair. “He has a proven track record of dynamic, ethical, collaborative, effective and strategic leadership. We are confident that he will build on the successes of our great presidents who have served before him."

Arndorfer and his wife, Julie, are parents to Katie, a member of the Jesuit High class of 2013, as well as current Jesuit High students John and David. [Source: Jesuit High School Portland]
