Fr. Jeff Putthoff, SJ, Named Next President of Trinity High School in St. Louis

April 9, 2018 — Jesuit Father Jeff Putthoff has been named the next president of Trinity Catholic High School in St. Louis, starting July 1, 2018.

He will succeed Sr. Karl Mary Winkelmann, SSND, who announced her intention to retire in November 2016. Sr. Winkelmann has served as president of Trinity Catholic since its establishment in 2003.

Fr. Putthoff is known to many St. Louisans from his years teaching at St. Louis University High School from 1991 to 1994 and from retreats at White House Retreat.

The archdiocese’s associate superintendent for secondary schools, Dr. Robert Oliveri, said that Fr. Putthoff’s primary agenda will be ensuring the sustainability of Trinity Catholic. The need for additional funding and heightened donor support has increased over the last two years as Trinity’s student population has increased approximately 21 percent and the cost of education has continued to climb.

Originally from Kansas City, Missouri, Fr. Putthoff graduated from Rockhurst High School in 1983 and entered the Society of Jesus in 1985. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1998.

Fr.  Putthoff served as associate pastor for two years in Camden, New Jersey, before co-founding Hopeworks N’ Camden in 1999. The nonprofit organization is an outreach and resource center for the youth living in Camden, one of the most impoverished communities in the country. He served as executive director there until 2016, when he became president of St. John’s Jesuit High School & Academy in Toledo, Ohio. [Source: Central and Southern Province]
