Fr. Thomas H. Smolich, SJ

Fr. Thomas H. Smolich, SJ, international director of Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS), is a delegate for the Society of Jesus' General Congregation 36. Prior to his role at JRS, Fr. Smolich served as the president of the Jesuit Conference. He also served as provincial of the California Province Jesuits from 1999 to 2005.

After being ordained to the priesthood in 1986, Fr. Smolich served as associate pastor of Dolores Mission, a Latino parish in East Los Angeles. He next earned an MBA at Stanford University and then served as the director of planning, formation and vocations for the California Province.

Since St. Ignatius bought a printing press in 1556, the Jesuits have been involved in communications. Today the Society of Jesus publishes a number of award-winning journals and publications. Click below to access our latest issues.
