St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church

Raleigh, North Carolina

St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Parish serves a diverse community of Catholic believers in Raleigh, N.C. The parish has the largest Hispanic population of all the Roman Catholic parishes in Raleigh and serves the religious and social needs of this vibrant community. Masses are celebrated throughout the week in both English and Spanish.

St. Raphael was originally planned as a chapel under Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, but in 1965 a development and manufacturing business moved into the area, bringing with it enough Roman Catholics to require a church instead of the small chapel. In 1966, the Bishop of Raleigh formally dedicated St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church.

The parish offers many worship, faith and social action programs for parishioners. These include Bible study, Harvest for Hunger, Health Care Ministry and an Art & Liturgical Environment Committee.

The parish also has a preschool and a grade school, educating children in the Jesuit tradition. The Saint Raphael Catholic School experience includes: daily prayer, all-school Mass, religion classes, ceremonies, student retreats, community service, reconciliation services and involvement in the parish.
