Jesuit Schools Named to 2020 U.S. News & World Report Rankings

September 9, 2019 — The U.S. News & World Report has released its annual rankings of the best colleges and universities in the United States. Jesuit institutions were featured prominently on the list:

NATIONAL UNIVERSITIES (399 schools):
24. Georgetown University; 37. Boston College; 54. Santa Clara University; 64. Loyola Marymount University; 74. Fordham University; 79. Gonzaga University; 84. Marquette University; 97. Saint Louis University; 97. University of San Francisco; 104. Creighton University; 104. Loyola University Chicago; 139. Seattle University; 179. University of Detroit Mercy; 197. Loyola University New Orleans; 202. Regis University

NATIONAL LIBERAL ARTS COLLEGES (223 schools)
27. College of the Holy Cross; 164 - 215. Spring Hill College

REGIONAL MASTER'S UNIVERSITIES: North (179 schools)

Highlights from this year’s rankings:

For the first time, the following schools were ranked as national universities: Santa Clara University, Loyola Marymount University, Gonzaga University, Creighton University, Seattle University, Loyola University New Orleans, University of Detroit Mercy and Regis University. All had been previously categorized as regional Master's universities. In addition to their national rankings, Georgetown University was ranked #6 in best colleges for veterans and #16 in best undergraduate teaching; Boston College was ranked #7 in best undergraduate teaching; and Gonzaga University was ranked #17 in best undergraduate teaching.

Among regional Master’s universities in the North, Fairfield University was ranked #1 in best undergraduate teaching and #12 in best value schools; Loyola University Maryland was ranked #1 in best colleges for veterans and #6 in best undergraduate teaching; The University of Scranton was ranked #12 in best undergraduate teaching; Saint Joseph’s University was ranked #4 in best colleges for veterans and #14 in best undergraduate teaching; Le Moyne College was ranked #8 for both best colleges for veterans and best undergraduate teaching; Canisius College was ranked #9 in best colleges for veterans; and Saint Peter’s University was ranked #19 in top performers on social mobility.

Among regional Master’s universities in the Midwest, John Carroll University was ranked #1 in best undergraduate teaching and #2 in best colleges for veterans; Xavier University was ranked #4 in best colleges for veterans and #18 in best undergraduate teaching; and Rockhurst University was ranked #8 in best colleges for veterans.
