Jesuit Father Alan J. Fogarty Appointed Chief Executive Officer of Salt and Light Catholic Media Foundation

February 12, 2020 — Salt and Light Catholic Media Foundation (Salt + Light Media) has announced the appointment of Jesuit Father Alan J. Fogarty as Chief Executive Officer effective August 1, 2020.

“I feel humbled to be invited to serve as Salt + Light’s CEO, yet I am also grateful to the Society of Jesus for availing me of this great apostolic work,” said Fr. Fogarty. “With expansion on the horizon, I am very much looking forward to engaging expert advice from those I have worked with over the years from all parts of the globe, involving them as part of a wider network that brings Salt + Light into its next phase of development and service.”

Salt and Light Catholic Media Foundation, a Canadian registered charity, and Salt and Light Catholic Media USA, Inc., a section 501(c)(3) not for profit charity, produce television, social media, podcasts, print and other forms of digital communication in English, French, Italian, Cantonese and Mandarin.

The organization is mission is "to proclaim Jesus Christ and the joy of the Gospel to the world by telling stories of hope that bring people closer to Christ and the Catholic faith.”

Fr. Fogarty joins Salt + Light Media with degrees in philosophy, theology, leadership and administration. Since ordination to the priesthood in 1998, Fr. Fogarty has held various senior leadership positions in Canada and the United States. On Dec. 31, 2019, he concluded six years of service to the Jesuit Superior General in Rome as president of the Gregorian University Foundation in the United States and as president of Gregoriana Inc. in Canada.

Fr. Fogarty succeeds Alexander Du, who has served as interim CEO since June 2019 and will continue to do so until Fr. Fogarty joins the organization in August. Du will then resume his previous role as Chief Operating Officer under Fr. Fogarty’s leadership. [Source: Salt and Light Catholic Media]
