Jesuits Share Wisdom with the Class of 2016

May 11, 2016 — Three prominent Jesuits are among the crop of commencement speakers addressing newly minted grads at Jesuit colleges and universities in the U.S.

At Wheeling Jesuit University in West Virginia on May 7, Fr. Timothy Kesicki, SJ, president of the Jesuit Conference of Canada and the United States, focused on the meaning and purpose of a Jesuit education.

“The Magis characterizes Jesuit education and is about how you make choices,” said Fr. Kesicki, who received a Doctorate of Humane Letters at the university's 58th commencement ceremony. “For St. Ignatius, the founder of the Jesuits, choosing the Magis was about choosing that which would accomplish the greater good and that which would be more pleasing to God. Let the Magis shape your future.

“You have all in your own way earned the admiration of St. Ignatius Loyola,” Fr. Kesicki said. (Read the full text of Fr. Kesicki's speech here.
