Fr. Christopher J. Krall, SJ

Fr. Christopher J. Krall, SJ, 32, grew up in the small community of Marshfield, Wisconsin. He attended Our Lady of Peace School in Marshfield, where his mother still teaches computer science. Raised in a committed Catholic family, Fr. Krall was called to the priesthood in first grade but began discerning his vocation in earnest at Columbus Catholic High School in Marshfield. At Boston College, Fr. Krall studied physics and philosophy, became involved with campus ministry, and was guided by several Jesuit mentors. During college, he spent one summer working with Jesuits on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota and a subsequent summer studying in Florence, Italy. He led service immersion trips to Kingston, Jamaica, and Nicaragua and worked on a research project for the Vatican Observatory before earning dual bachelor’s degrees in 2005. Entering the Jesuits immediately after a post-graduation pilgrimage along El Camino de Santiago in Spain, Fr. Krall spent five months as a novice serving the Archdiocese of the Military Services. Missioned next to the University of Toronto, he earned a master’s in the history and philosophy of science and technology from Victoria College and a Diploma in Lonergan Studies from the Jesuits’ Regis College. At Marquette University High School in Milwaukee, he taught physics and religion while coaching the cross country, tennis and ski teams. At the Boston College School of Theology and Ministry, he earned a Master of Divinity degree and a Licentiate in Sacred Theology while serving as a deacon at Boston University’s Catholic Center. Following ordination, Fr. Krall is missioned to the Church of the Gesu in Milwaukee and also expects to pursue his interest in military chaplaincy programs and a doctorate in philosophy and science. His first Masses as a Jesuit priest will be celebrated at Marquette High School and at his home parish of Our Lady of Peace. (Wisconsin Province)
